In our introduction we state we offer a new and fresh perspective to business transformation.

That's a pretty bold statement...

So lets provide the context of how we started our journey, which required quite some coffee sessions.

Why

We realized how amazing it is to assist organisations in their business transformation journey. And given the future will entail an exponential path of change, we believe there is value in using our experience and expertise to assist in management and monitoring of a business transformation.

This is enriched by the amount challenges experienced in business and digital transformation programs, due to pressure of 'needing to act now', 'needing to show progress and decision making', but not factoring what the actual problem statement is that needs to be resolved.

And very often that problem statement has an elevated complexity due to existing ecosystem, represented by technical debt, 'we've always done it like this' principle and the fact that transformation programs aren't core business activities.

It is like redoing your kitchen, thinking you can buy some cabinets and refit a new layout yourself. And halfway realizing you need skills for plumbing, electricity, carpentry, painting, etc etc. And that you did a number of things in the wrong order.

Of course, there are some people who are unique and can do it all. But most people aren't 'bob the builder' and will struggle to do everything themselves.

So we're no carpenters, no painters, no plumbers, no electricians, but we are specialized in helping you identify the existing layout, assist with planning the future layout and create a mechanism to have you monitor the progress of the overall process, while relying on experts to perform their parts of the overall process.

Our experience

We have built our experience over a decade in digital transformation, business transformation and delivery of technology and business change.

This was performed through different viewpoints, ranging from external consultancy roles implementing business application software into organisations (customers).

As well as responsibility in organisations to manage software development and implementation programs and teams.

Within the business transformation experience, we had to apply our expertise in a high pace M&A environment, where new business entities were added regularly. These expansion programs ranged in company footprint and impact, causing micro and macro effect across the overall estate. Causing frequent ripple effect in existing and planned change programs.

Current Business Transformation Programs

We noticed a number of common themes in business transformation programs, which hamper the success and progress of the intended outcome.

  • Program teams and projects are working in silos

  • There is a strong driver to look at replacing technical debt

  • There is a strong focus on automation and innovation of current problems

  • There is limited focus on defining the conditions of the business transformation and even less focus on what the expected journey is going to be.

We believe there are ways to de-risk the impact of these themes, by applying a number of important steps.

Our Approach

We combine 4 key domains to perform our assessments: Organisation, Technology, Change and Strategy. But not necessarily in that order. Any of these elements can be used as a starting point, and it will trigger subsequent discovery in the other areas.

We believe by applying these 4 domains into a perspective, it creates a 360 view of the current state. This perspective will allow assessment of the journey and the destination, and track your position during the journey, including any (unexpected) new conditions.

We notice most consultancy engagements and software implementation partners focus on the delivery & execution of change.

But often run into issues when the current state blocks progress. Which then impacts timelines, budget, expectations, and knock on effect of downstream dependencies, such an interdependent projects or next stages of a program.

Therefore we believe our approach offers a new and fresh perspective to business transformation. Where we focus on the current state, the journey planning and a control mechanism to monitor the journey and accommodate course corrections.

While still engage experts to perform the carpentry, plumbing, electricity & painting.
